You can see 23 parameters and this is the sample and hold and you can ask why not using normal LFOs inside Ableton and start to map them. So first of all creating 24 23 LF different LFOs going to take a lot of time especially mapping them to each one of your parameters and probably your Ableton will crush. So, let's I can just jam with the with the positions of the devices themselves. Hello guys. And welcome to another tutorial. Today we're going to make a lot of versatile and interesting percussion.
And you're going to see how to make your percussion much more interesting and psychedelic and engaging and like sounds really unique. So let's just dive into it. I hope to make a nice loop out of it in the end of the of the sesh. But mostly and mainly this thing is a sound design session as always and we're going to learn the workflow. So let's just load the drum rack and let's pick like a few percussions that they are in the same tonality. Let's say C sharp. Let's take one roll as well. Sorry.
Okay. And now what we're going to do, we're going to make a really interesting chain with a lot of parameters automated by Stride. I've just developed a new feature sample and hold feature. You're going to see it. It's so amazing. It like acts like the chaos feature inside Serum which makes like you can set up a rate and it just move from one value to another.
So imagine in Stride you can have like 50 parameters. Each one of them are is going to have his own unique chaos pattern. Instead of the same chaos controlling all the 50 parameters, we'll have 50 chaos 50 different chaos manipulations. So that's sound really interesting. Let's just dive into the chain. We have our drum rack. I have here my pads. Where can I just h play them and keep it playful. So let's put one bit crush already automate this patterns. Sorry.
Let's have one nice device from Autoverse. You can have any of those basically just keep it randomized and interesting and create the chaos you want and then pick your best you know parts. So let's also automate map all these parameters so we can have them. Now let's pick a corpus automate the tune heat in arm bright and bleed also the spread. Now I want let's set an overdrive after all this also. Let's just crank it and automate only the only the mix button. So it can have like a different dynamics. Now let's have another bit crush so everything sounds nice and crispy.
Same here. I could basically load two bit crush or three in the in the beginning just map them and then I'll have you know few of them already automated. But let's just do it step by step. I want a transient shaper just with to adjust the attack a little bit of everything. Why doesn't work? Ctrl Alt P. Sometimes you have a shortcut where you can just exit all the devices in the same track. Let's just have a nice a nice low cut.
So everything in the sub getting cut and we keep space for the bass and we have a multiband in the end and just a limiter. So everything get really loud. So without any manipulations it sounds like this. But when we will load Stride Let's just drag a MIDI clip so it remembers the template. Let's clear all the lanes. See how it works. Now we have all the parameters in this chain. You can see 23 parameters and you can ask like this is the sample and hold and you can ask why not using normal LFOs inside Ableton and start to map them.
So first of all creating 24 23 different LFOs going to take a lot of time especially mapping them to each one of your parameters and probably your Ableton will crush. So let's apply to clip and let's drag it. Okay, now we have now we have all this MIDI clip with all the parameters automated. You can see the lanes. They're automated with the sample and hold pattern. So, what I'm going to do, I'm not going to h any MIDI note. I'm just going to jam in live and let's see how it goes. Let's just record it. Hey, hey, hey. Let's save this chunk. Let's see.
Okay, let's add some cluster delay and to give it some more character. I just check what is the milliseconds of C sharp and I remember that it's 33. You have a website you can search in Google note to hertz and then you can find the exact the exact timing for this. We can just play with it as long as we go. Let's record.
We have some more nice chunks. And what we can basically do, we can just minimize all of them. And now I can just let all my all my MIDI notes play. We'll listen to them. Let's just sing them and quantize them. And then I can just jam with the with the positions of the devices themselves to get to get different stuff. So it's really interesting. Let's try it. I'm I am here. This is good. I love this glitches. Let's just you know, you can add whatever you want. Like let's add some more percussions, some different percussions. I want some more like high High characteristic.
Let's pitch them all up. I can also automate the transposition of the of the notes. Let's try it. You know what? Let's just try it. Might take some time. Worth it. Now, because we changed the rack, we need to drag another med clip to the user library. Let's scan it again with the new parameters. Now we have here also h the transpose parameters of the drum rack. They're right here as you can see. Let's apply again sample and hold and let's jam one more time. Hello everyone. Okay, nice. I think we have enough of those
I want some more like high like high note percussion vibe. Congo is good. Some more. Okay. I think that's all right. We have enough data. Let's just make something more, let's say, musical that will keep the loop in a in a kind of root or something. Let's load an operator. Replace it with a drum rack and let's set a saw wave for example. Let's draw C sharp. Just so we have something that is less you know that's more like a lead sounding Oh my god. Okay, let's just record something.
Super easy. Oops. Dangerous. Oh yes. Okay, we have enough to write a nice loop even like I don't know more than a loop. So yeah, this is how you just having a lot of different audio chunks and mud pies and interesting stuff from one instrument. Yeah, make sure you follow for more.
